Tieto syst\u00e9my m\u00f4\u017eu by\u0165 charakterizovan\u00e9 existenciou coulombick\u00fdch interakci\u00ed pri vysok\u00fdch teplot\u00e1ch. Predmetom \u0161t\u00fadia s\u00fa predov\u0161etk\u00fdm z\u00e1kladn\u00e9 fyzik\u00e1lnochemick\u00e9 vlastnosti ku ktor\u00fdm patria f\u00e1zov\u00e9 rovnov\u00e1hy, hustota, elektrick\u00e1 vodivos\u0165, viskozita, medzif\u00e1zov\u00e9 a povrchov\u00e9 nap\u00e4tie a s\u00favis medzi fyzik\u00e1lnochemick\u00fdm spr\u00e1van\u00edm sa t\u00fdchto roztaven\u00fdch syst\u00e9mov s ich zlo\u017een\u00edm a \u0161trukt\u00farou. Objektom v\u00fdskumu s\u00fa hlavne fluoridov\u00e9 syst\u00e9my na b\u00e1ze\u00a0hlin\u00edka, hor\u010d\u00edka,\u00a0\u00a0zirk\u00f3nia, scandia,\u00a0tantalu, ni\u00f3bu a syst\u00e9my na b\u00e1ze lant\u00e1noidov. Amb\u00edciou oddelenia je zav\u00e1dzanie modern\u00fdch techn\u00edk, ak\u00fdmi s\u00fa vysokoteplotn\u00e1 NMR a MAS NMR spektroskopia, vysokoteplotn\u00e1 neutr\u00f3nov\u00e1 a synchrotr\u00f3nov\u00e1 difrakcia a pod.\u00a0 Nevyhnutnou s\u00fa\u010das\u0165ou v\u00fdskumu anorganick\u00fdch taven\u00edn je ich elektrochemick\u00e1 charakteriz\u00e1cia pomocou cel\u00e9ho radu elektrochemick\u00fdch techn\u00edk (r\u00f4zne typy voltametrie, chronocoulometria, chronopotenciomentria, elektrochemick\u00e1 impeda\u010dn\u00e1 spektrosk\u00f3pia). Aplikovan\u00fd v\u00fdskum oddelenia je hlavne spojen\u00fd s optimaliz\u00e1ciou podmienok elektrolytickej v\u00fdroby hlin\u00edka a in\u00fdch elektrolyticky vylu\u010dovan\u00fdch kovov, no predmet aplikovan\u00e9ho v\u00fdskumu sa neobmedzuje len na elektrometalurgiu.\u00a0D\u00f4le\u017eitou s\u00fa\u010das\u0165ou v\u00fdskumu je v\u00fdskum kor\u00f3zie kon\u0161truk\u010dn\u00fdch materi\u00e1lov v\u00a0tavenin\u00e1ch, v\u00fdskum taven\u00edn pre uchov\u00e1vanie energie ako aj synt\u00e9za zauj\u00edmav\u00fdch zl\u00fa\u010den\u00edn z\u00a0anorganick\u00fdch taven\u00edn, napr. v\u0161eobecne tern\u00e1rne fluoridy alebo (oxo)-(fluoro)-hlinitany na b\u00e1ze perovskitov pre fotonick\u00e9 a\u00a0elektronick\u00e9 aplik\u00e1cie.
