Prof. Ravi Kumar – Advanced Ceramics for strategic self-reliance (lecture)

On September 8, 2025, our institute welcomed a distinguished international guest – Prof. Ravi Kumar from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai (India).
Professor Kumar is a recognized authority in the field of advanced ceramic materials, with extensive experience in research, innovation, and bridging academia with industry. In addition to his remarkable academic and scientific achievements, Prof. Kumar is also a successful entrepreneur. He is the Director and Co-founder of CeraTattva InnoTech, a high-tech company specializing in advanced non-oxide ceramic materials for high-temperature and demanding applications. He is also the Director and Founder of InsituMicron, a company developing next-generation mechanical testing solutions for real-time in situ material characterization.
During his visit, he delivered an inspiring lecture entitled:
“Advanced ceramics for strategic self-reliance – from lab-scale research to entrepreneurship”
In his talk, he presented the journey from fundamental laboratory research to the commercial application of results, highlighting the importance of advanced ceramics for strategic self-reliance.
At the conclusion of the visit, Professor Pavol Šajgalík presented Prof. Kumar with a commemorative award as a gesture of recognition for his contributions to research and innovation in ceramic materials, as well as for strengthening collaboration with our institute. His achievements serve as an inspiration to our researchers, who are committed to developing new materials for practical applications and transferring them into industrial practice.
