Hot isostatic press – HIP 200-110*200Gl (EPSI Ltd.)
Equipment used for the densification of powders, e.g. metals and/or ceramics, at temperatures up to 2000 °C and at pressures up to 800 MPa. Pressure is applied either by air or by inert gas, e.g. argon or nitrogen act isostaticaly during densification on the material.
Gas pressure sintering – KCE-FP W100 (FCT Systeme GmbH)
Gas pressure sintering is a manufacturing process used to reduce the porosity of metals and ceramics materials. This improves the mechanical properties and increases workability. The GPS process subjects a component to both elevated temperature and isostatic gas pressure in a furnace. The pressurizing gas most widely used is argon or nitrogen. An inert gas is used, so that the material does not chemically react. The chamber is heated, causing the pressure inside the chamber to increase. Due to the presence of the gas, pressure is applied to the material from all directions (hence the term “isostatic”). The maximum pressure of the inert gas is 10 Mpa and temperature 2200°C.
